Short bio
Shannon Hunter is a one-man band with guitar, vocals, harmonica, didgeridoo and foot percussion, all played live. After 20 years playing professionally across Far North Queensland, he brings a big Australian folk, roots and rock sound to the Sunshine Coast. Long bio
Shannon Hunter is a one-man band from country Victoria who has spent two decades making a living from live music.
He plays acoustic guitar, harmonica, didgeridoo and foot percussion while he sings, all at once and all live. The result is a big, earthy sound that leans into Australian folk, roots and rock, the territory of Paul Kelly, John Butler, Xavier Rudd, The Waifs, Goanna and John Williamson, along with plenty of well-known classics that get a crowd singing.
For the best part of 20 years Shannon was a regular across Far North Queensland, working full-time through Port Douglas, Cairns, Palm Cove and the Tablelands, as well as touring the east coast from Cape York to Tasmania. That kind of workload teaches you how to read a room. He can keep a Sunday afternoon easy, give a dinner crowd the right atmosphere, and turn a late session into a party when it's time.
Along the way he has supported James Reyne and played didgeridoo on "Solid Rock" alongside Goanna's Shane Howard at a festival. He has also released two albums, Meet You There and Around the Campfire.
Shannon is now based on the Sunshine Coast, playing venues, weddings, private functions and tourism experiences.
